Share of industry, including construction, in total production of gross added value reached 31.7%, the press service of the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
In nine months of 2016, Uzbekistan produced consumer goods for 31.129 trillion soums (+3.8%), including food products – 15.778 trillion soums (+13.7%).
Enterprises of processing industry contributed the most to growth of industrial production. Share of the sector in industrial production reached 79.7% against 78.2% in the same period of 2015 (growth rate – 6.4%).
Share of mining industry reached 10.7% (+4.1%), electricity supply, gas supply, steam and air conditioning – 8.9% (+2.2%), water supply, sewage and waste utilization – 0.7% (+13.5%).
Industrial production rose in Karakalpakstan (+91.7%), Jizzakh region (+18.3%), Tashkent city (13.2%), Namangan region (+13.1%), Samarkand region (+11.7%), Ferghana region (+10.1%), Syrdarya region (+9.3%) and Bukhara region (+9.2%).
Currently, 42,986 industrial enterprises operate in Uzbekistan, of which 40,451 are processing enterprises, 1,294 – mining enterprises, 333 – electricity supply, gas supply, steam and air conditioning enterprises, 908 - water supply, sewage and waste utilization companies.
In the reporting period, 5,019 industrial enterprises were created, of which 4,785 0 in processing industry.
