Uzbekistan Offers Extra 50m³ Gas at Subsidized Price

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 16 to 31 March, residents of Uzbekistan will be able to purchase an additional 50 cubic meters of natural gas at the base rate of 1,000 soums per cubic meter. This measure follows the extension of the monthly gas allowance for the heating season, prompted by a sharp cold spell earlier in March, according to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

According to “Uzgidromet,” daily temperatures from 16 to 20 March are expected to reach up to +22°C during the day and +10°C at night. Accordingly, the monthly base gas allowance from March 16 until November 1 will be 100 cubic meters per household (in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm Region, the allowance applies until October 1).

For March, the monthly base allowance of 500 cubic meters is split between the first and second halves of the month: 250 cubic meters from March 1–15 and 50 cubic meters on 16–31 March. These additional 50 cubic meters will be charged at the base rate, rather than the higher tariff of 1,800 soums per cubic meter.

Residents with questions regarding gas billing can contact AO “Hududgazta’minot” or its regional branches.

Previously, compensation for electricity and gas consumption applied only during winter months. Now, subsidies are provided year-round, covering up to 250 cubic meters of gas in winter and up to 150 cubic meters in other months, with electricity compensation applied for usage above 200 kWh up to 150 kWh. This initiative aims to reduce household utility costs and support socially vulnerable populations.
