Uzbekistan moves 12 positions up in 2019 Index of Economic Freedom

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan was ranked 140th among 180 countries of the world in the 2019 Index of Economic Freedom, which is published by the American Research Institute Heritage Foundation.

Compared to the previous rating, Uzbekistan moved 12 positions up in the Index. The index of Uzbekistan is 53.3 (+1.8 points).

The index of Uzbekistan has improved due to increasing the level of business freedom, property rights and fiscal freedom, trade freedom, labor freedom, etc. However, Uzbekistan’s economy remains in the “not free” category (mostly unfree).

Hong Kong (index - 90.2), Singapore (89.4), New Zealand (84.4), Switzerland (81.9), Australia (80.9) and Ireland (80.5) claimed top five place in the index. Cuba (27.8), Venezuela (25.9) and North Korea (5.9) are on the last place in the index.
