Uzbekistan may change military conscription terms

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to change military conscription from winter to spring to avoid difficulties in this process, which are related to adverse weather conditions, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan said.

The current terms of military conscription - February-March - cause difficulties with ensuring the necessary temperature in the premises of conscription and assembly posts and the increase in expenses for these purposes.

Often, adverse weather conditions impede the timely arrival of conscripts from remote areas of the republic to the assembly points. In addition, in winter, most roads do not meet the relevant standards, which also adversely affects the implementation of draft events.

In this regard, the Supreme Commander of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev made a proposal to postpone the call to active military service and change conscription time from February-March to March-April. The Ministry of Defense prepared a draft law “On Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Universal Military Duty and Military Service”.

Change of conscription term from winter to spring, it will help to cut expenses, connected with conscription activities.
