Uzbekistan Launches Esports, Drone, and Robotics Competitions in Armed Forces
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Armed Forces of Uzbekistan are implementing a systematic approach to developing high-tech sports disciplines.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree “On Measures to Develop Esports, Drone, and Robotics Sports in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” establishing the legal and organizational framework for training a new generation of specialists.
Under the decree, ministries and agencies within the security sector will regularly organize competitions in three key areas: esports, unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) technology, and robotics. The initiative aims to integrate modern technologies into military-patriotic education and enhance the technical literacy of service personnel.
A structured three-stage competition calendar has been established. The cycle begins in August with the first stage — internal contests at the unit and institutional level called the “Commander’s Cup.” Winners advance to the second stage in October, the “Military District Commander’s Cup.”
The annual cycle culminates in December with the final stage, the “Minister of Defense Cup.” This multi-level selection system is designed to maximize participation and identify the most talented personnel in programming, complex technical systems management, and robotics for the benefit of the defense sector.
