Uzbekistan-Latvia: direct growth of contacts between the business circles of the two countries

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 April 2021, the eighth meeting of the Uzbek-Latvian Intergovernmental Commission on bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Latvia was held.

The meeting was also attended by the heads of relevant ministries, departments, industry associations, chambers of commerce and industry and large industrial enterprises of the two countries.

During her speech, the Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Commission from the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev emphasized the huge potential in the development of partnerships to attract investments, implement mutually beneficial projects and increase the volume of mutual trade through the entry of Uzbek and Latvian producers into the markets of the two countries. He also noted the importance of the activities of the Uzbek-Latvian Business Council, as an effective platform for the development of cooperation ties between the business circles of the two countries.

“Latvia is one of the key and most active trade partners of Uzbekistan among European states,” said the chairman of the IGC from Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khodjaev, opening the event. - The activation of mutual trade missions and the opening of trading houses, the constant exchange of lists of promising products for mutual supplies will play a big role in increasing bilateral trade, especially since our countries have significant export potential. In particular, Uzbekistan can meet the needs of the Latvian market in a wide range of finished goods in the textile industry, leather and footwear products, mineral fertilizers, fresh and dried fruit and vegetable products. In turn, we are ready to buy in Latvia wood and wood products, grain crops and products of their processing, furniture accessories, lighting devices, medical equipment, optical equipment, dairy products.

A willingness to develop interaction in various fields was indicated, which will contribute to the growth of direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries.
