Uzbekistan - Kazakhstan: on the path of strengthening economic ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 February 2021, the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov on the Uzbek-Kazakh border on the territory of the Gisht-Kuprik border crossing point.

During the meeting, the parties stressed their mutual readiness to further strengthen the multifaceted cooperation of the two countries. They discussed the implementation of the "Road Map" to expand and deepen cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan, agreed in November last year in Tashkent.

The parties have identified mechanisms to enhance the interaction of relevant ministries, departments and entrepreneurs of the two countries to promote approved events and projects.

They also discussed joint measures to increase the volume of mutual trade, in particular, specific measures to develop cross-border interaction and the course of the elaboration of a project to create an International Center for Trade and Economic Cooperation "Central Asia" (ICTEC).

Following the talks, the parties came to an agreement to accelerate the implementation of this project, and also outlined further joint actions to address topical issues of bilateral investment and trade and economic cooperation.
