Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20 July 2020, a meeting was held in the form of a videoconference with the chairman of the inter-parliamentary groups for cooperation between the chambers of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the parliamentary friendship group “Italy - Central Asia” Simone  Suriano.

The meeting was attended by members of the Senate and deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, heads of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Italian Republic, representatives of relevant international organizations.

The event discussed the role of parliaments in the political and socio-economic processes between Uzbekistan and Italy, the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and issues of its development.

In addition, the ties between the Italy-Central Asia friendship groups in the Italian parliament were highlighted.

During the meeting, it was especially stated that in order to actively develop inter-parliamentary ties, for the first time this year, a group for cooperation with the Italian parliament was formed in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, which included senators working in various fields.

They also spoke about cooperation between states, strengthening mutually beneficial trade and economic, legal, cultural and humanitarian ties.

During the meeting, parliamentary groups identified measures to improve their activities in the future.
