Uzbekistan Introduces New Environmental Standards for Construction

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree implementing the national “Clean Air” project, which introduces new mandatory environmental standards for construction sites starting from 1 June 2026.

Under the new regulations, construction sites must be equipped with background monitoring stations integrated into the Committee for Ecology’s unified geographic information system. Additionally, online cameras will be installed at sites and discharge points to ensure compliance with environmental norms, with data automatically transmitted to the Committee’s central database.

Violations of environmental standards will result in reduced rating points in the national information system “Transparent Construction.” Submission of an ecological expertise report is now mandatory when conducting reviews of design, estimate, and urban planning documentation.

Design of new buildings over 12 meters in height and/or with a total area exceeding 500 square meters will only be permitted if green areas adjacent to the site cover at least 30% of the total project area.

These measures aim to improve ecological conditions and enhance the quality of the urban environment.
