Uzbekistan intends to be elected member of the UN HRC - head of the Ministry of Justice
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Justice of Uzbekistan Ruslanbek Davletov said that Uzbekistan intends to be elected as a member of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for the period of 2021-2023.

Ruslanbek Davletov said this during the 37th session of the UNHRC, which is taking place these days in Geneva.

The Human Rights Council is an intergovernmental body of the UN system, established on 15 March 2006. It consists of 47 states elected for three years by a majority of members of the UN General Assembly by direct secret ballot.

In the course of his speech, Ruslanbek Davletov spoke about reforms, being carried out in Uzbekistan to protect human rights and interests, as well as in the judicial and legal sphere.

According to him, the Government of Uzbekistan is also taking measures to combat corruption.

He said that in November 2018, the Asian Human Rights Forum will be held in Uzbekistan. The forum is held in connection with the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
