Uzbekistan continues work on development of programme “The Year of Attention and Care for Elder People”

Ministries and departments, public organizations are working on developing a programme, which will correspond to tasks, outlined by the President of Uzbekistan to solve existing problems of elder people, support them financially and morally, raise their role in formation peaceful atmosphere in Uzbekistan and upbringing young generation.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Population said that Mahalla Foundation and Nuroniy Foundation, as well as aksakals of self-governing bodies, unions of people with disabilities are participating in the development of the programme to ensure its meets current needs of elder people.

The ministry said that the developers of the programme are developing programme so its clauses were transparent and can be assessed.

The programme will pay attention to such issues as pensions, social support of elder people, healthcare services to elder people, their rehabilitation and entertainment, etc. So, the ministries and departments from all sectors – social protection, healthcare, economy and finance, transport, culture and sport, mass media and others – were attracted to development of the state programme.

The programme will also focus of World War II veterans and single elder people.
