Uzbekistan carried out construction works for 9.26 trln. Soums in 1Q

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The volume of performed construction works in Uzbekistan in January-March 2018 made up 9.26 trillion soums. The growth rate to the corresponding period of the previous year was 12.2%.

According to the Uzbek State Statistics Committee, the volume of construction works performed by large contracting organizations was 3.6 trillion soums or rose by 32.4% to the corresponding period of the previous year, the share in the total volume of construction works was 38.8%.

The volume of construction works performed by small enterprises and microfirms was 3.66 trillion soums or 39.6% of the total volume of construction works, the growth rate - 7.8%. The share of the informal sector was 21.6% or 1.99 trillion soums, the decrease rate - 1.5%.

The main part of construction works by type of economic activity was performed due to construction of residential and non-residential buildings. Their share in the total volume of construction works was 80.0% and increased by 5.2 percentage points compared to the same period of the last year. The share of construction of civil facilities in the volume of construction works by type of economic activity was 14.0% and decreased by 1.8 percentage points compared to the same period of the last year. The share of other contracting works was 9.4% and decreased by 3.0 percentage points compared to the same period of the last year.

In the volume of construction works by type of economic activity the share of construction of buildings and structures performed by large contracting organizations was 39.7% and increased by 1.8 percentage points compared to the same period of the last year. Correspondingly, the share of small enterprises and microfirms was 33.8% (decrease by 2.9 percentage points), that of the informal sector - 26.5% (decrease by 7.4 percentage points).

Large contracting organizations performed 47.1% of the total construction works. This indicator grew by 6.8 percentage points compared to the same period of the last year. The share of small enterprises and microfirms was 49.3% (decrease by 7.7% percentage points) and that of the informal sector - 3.6% (increase by 0.8 percentage points). In the volume of other contract works the share of large contracting organizations decreased by 6.6 percentage points and amounted to 25.1%. The share of small enterprises and microfirms accounted for 74.9% (increase by 6.6 percentage points).

The city of Tashkent leads the regional structure of construction works performed by large contracting organizations. Major contracting organizations in this region performed 31.1% of the total volume of construction works in this area.

The lowest share in the volume of construction works performed by major contracting organizations was observed in Jizzakh region - 1.2%. The main part of construction works in this region falls to small enterprises and microfirms.

The highest growth rates of construction works were observed in Tashkent region and the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year the active construction of individual houses in these regions ensured a growth rate of 33.4% and 19.1% respectively.

The high growth rate in Navoi region (12.0%) was achieved due to construction of a mine for the extraction and processing of gold-bearing ore from the “Auminso-Amantoy” ore field (MMP-5) (I-II stages), the reconstruction of the third line of the pumping station “Amudaryo – Zarafshon”.

The construction of the metro line, bridge, ring railway, the reconstruction of the Tashkent Pedagogical Institute and the national park ensured a growth rate of 10.6% in the city of Tashkent.
