Uzbekistan Approves Ethical Standards for AI Use

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Justice has registered ethical standards governing the development, deployment and use of artificial intelligence solutions. The document was officially registered under number 3787 on 14 March 2026.

The standards define key ethical principles for working with AI technologies and systems, including legality, prioritizing the protection of the interests of individuals, society, the state and the environment, clarity, responsibility and accountability, fairness and non-discrimination, openness and transparency, data protection, as well as reliability and safety.

Under the new rules, it is prohibited to rely entirely on the conclusions of AI information systems when making decisions on legally significant matters affecting human rights and freedoms. The same restriction applies to critical sectors such as healthcare, including medical diagnosis, the selection of treatment methods and other key decisions.

Developers and users of AI technologies are required to provide clear information about the permitted and prohibited uses of such systems, the possibility of errors in AI-generated conclusions, and the fact that the results may only be used as recommendations or reference information.

The standards also outline the rights and obligations of all parties involved in working with artificial intelligence systems, establishing a framework for the safe and ethically responsible use of AI technologies in Uzbekistan.
