Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 21 April, in the format of a video conference, negotiations were held between Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Minister for Government and Future Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Gergawi.
During the talks, the sides discussed the current state and opportunities for expanding multifaceted cooperation, as well as progress and concrete results achieved in the implementation of projects within the framework of the program to improve the efficiency of public administration.
In this context, an agreement was reached to hold joint seminars, trainings and other events in all agreed areas. The parties will also continue to interact to develop proposals for expanding this cooperation program.
The Emirates side separately noted the special attention given by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the popularization of information and communication technologies and programming among young people. It is worth recalling that during the Youth Forum held in December 2020, the Head of State was instructed to provide free training for 300 thousand students in the basics of programming over the next two years. The parties discussed practical aspects and further steps for the practical implementation of this initiative.
They also discussed current issues of investment, trade and economic cooperation. In particular, it was announced that the proposals of the Ministry of Economy of the UAE are currently being worked out to expand cooperation in the fields of industry and tourism, as well as to increase the export of fresh agricultural products from Uzbekistan to the UAE. The Uzbek side informed that the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, together with relevant ministries and departments, has begun to work out specific project proposals for subsequent submission to the Emirati side.
As a result of the videoconference, an agreement was reached to intensify interaction for the prompt resolution of current issues in all areas of bilateral cooperation.
