Uzbekistan and the UK strengthen educational cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the World Education Forum in London, a delegation from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Preschool and School Education, led by Minister Hilola Umarova, signed several key agreements aimed at advancing the country’s general education system.
A notable agreement was signed with Volunteers Services Overseas (VSO) to bring over 500 teachers from the UK to teach in Uzbekistan’s public schools. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance English language education and introduce innovative teaching methods.
The delegation also met with Salim Al-Malik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), to explore avenues for bilateral cooperation, including the potential organization of an international conference on collaborative education.
Another major milestone was the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with Cambridge University Press & Assessment to support the modernization of the Nizami National Pedagogical University. The collaboration focuses on upgrading teacher training programs and aligning them with international education standards.
Additionally, Minister Umarova met with “El-Yurt Umidi” Foundation scholars currently studying at top UK universities. Held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London, the meeting focused on their return to Uzbekistan and their future role in the development of the country’s education system.
