Uzbekistan and the Netherlands discuss prospects for development of cooperation in the oil and gas field

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the Benelux countries Dilyor Khakimov met in Rotterdam (Netherlands) with the leadership of the Association of Dutch suppliers IRO to discuss prospects for developing cooperation in the oil and gas field, Dunyo news agency reported.

Established in 1950, the IRO Association is an independent, non-profit organization that unites the oil and gas consortia of the Netherlands. The Association supports and promotes the interests of its 425 members, which are engaged in provision of engineering and consulting services, construction and supply of equipment, exploration and production of oil and gas, as well as the development of technologies in the field of renewable energy sources.

In the course of negotiations with the managing director of IRO C. Vergrouessen and business development manager T. Surenbroek, the head of our diplomatic mission shared information on the modern development of the oil and gas industry in Uzbekistan. In particular, it was noted that 242 deposits are successfully operating in the republic, 110 of which were discovered during the years of independence, including 15 in cooperation with foreign investors. To date, such large companies as Lukoil and Gazprom (Russia), Petronas (Malaysia), CNODC (PRC), KNOC (Korea) and others are represented in Uzbekistan.

In turn, the Dutch side expressed readiness to establish contacts with Uzbekneftegaz and promote energy potential of our country among the members of the Association.

In general, IRO representatives confirmed their interest in organizing the visit of the member companies of the association to Uzbekistan to discuss the prospects for the implementation of projects in the energy sector.

In addition, S. Vergouessen invited the relevant structures and companies of Uzbekistan to take part in the next IRO meeting, which will be held in Rotterdam in October 2019.
