Uzbekistan and the EU Discuss Preparations for the First Interparliamentary Summit in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 February, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov held a meeting with the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Eduards Stiprais.

The parties noted that the recent summits in Samarkand and Brussels marked the beginning of a new stage in the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the European Union. Particular attention was devoted to preparations for the first Central Asia–EU Interparliamentary Summit, scheduled to take place in Samarkand.

The meeting also addressed the opening of the regional office of the European Investment Bank in Tashkent, which was recognized as an important milestone in strengthening investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU.
