Uzbekistan and the EU Begin Consultations on Simplifying Visa Procedures

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has conducted the first stage of consultations with experts from the Directorate-General for Home Affairs and Migration of the European Commission, the Dunyo news agency reports.

According to the Consular and Legal Department of the MFA, the discussions focused on prospects for simplifying visa procedures for Uzbek citizens traveling to European Union countries for work, study, professional drivers, and organized tourist groups.

The European side outlined a number of conditions that must be met before the issue of visa simplification for Uzbek citizens can be submitted for consideration by the European Commission.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue consultations in a similar format to expedite progress and achieve practical results.
