Uzbekistan and Sweden Discuss Expanding Scientific and Educational Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of a working visit to Uzbekistan, Andreas Götenberg, Executive Director of the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT), held talks at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, the Dunyо news agency reported.

During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to further strengthen scientific cooperation between Uzbekistan and Sweden, launch joint educational programs, and enhance the institutional capacity of the country’s higher education institutions.

Special attention was given to developing collaborative research projects in artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and data-driven innovations, as well as integrating Uzbek universities and research institutes into European research and innovation ecosystems.

The discussion also covered advancing digital competencies through academic mobility programs and talent development, implementing effective “university–industry” cooperation models based on Swedish experience, and exploring opportunities for innovation-driven investment partnerships in the scientific sphere.

As a result of the negotiations, the sides agreed to promote promising initiatives aimed at actively involving Uzbek universities in the global educational and scientific arena.
