Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 March, during the visit of the government delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on key issues of bilateral trade, economic, investment, industrial, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The high dynamics of the development of bilateral relations and the consistent strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two states were emphasized.
Separately, the high intensity of contacts between the two countries during the pandemic and in the post-visual period was noted - a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, a series of bilateral negotiations in the format of a video conference, as well as a number of mutual visits at various levels were held.
During the meeting, the prospects and progress of joint work to expand cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres were considered. Mutual commitment was expressed to implement joint practical measures to increase trade between the two countries in order to bring its volume to US$10 billion in the near future. In this vein, the successful interaction of the customs authorities of the two countries was noted, aimed at simplifying the procedure for carrying out customs procedures when carrying out cargo transportation through the territories of the two states.
Special attention was paid to the development of investment cooperation - the governments of the two countries are working on the implementation of a wide range of joint investment projects. An agreement was reached to continue close cooperation at the level of the relevant ministries and departments of the two countries in order to accelerate the practical implementation of the agreed projects.
They also discussed issues related to a number of planned bilateral events, including a meeting of the Joint Commission at the level of the Heads of Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, as well as the international industrial exhibition “Innoprom. Big Industrial Week in Uzbekistan” in Tashkent.
An agreement was reached on attracting technical assistance from the Russian Federation for the implementation of a number of projects aimed at reforming the tax and cadastral system of Uzbekistan, as well as harmonizing national legislation in the field of standardization with international norms.
Following the meeting, a number of agreements were reached on further deepening multifaceted Uzbek-Russian cooperation and strengthening bilateral ties in priority areas of interaction.
