Uzbekistan and Pakistan Agree to Cooperate in Agro-Industrial Processing
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Islamabad, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Jamshidjon Abduzukhurov, held a series of meetings with leaders of leading private companies in Pakistan to discuss expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector and agro-industrial processing, developing exports, and introducing modern technologies.
During the talks, the parties discussed concrete projects and areas of collaboration. With Watercon, they explored potato seed cultivation, implementation of a buy-back model, in-vitro mini-tuber production in laboratories, contract farming arrangements, introduction of frost-resistant olive varieties, pilot projects, and the development of olive oil processing infrastructure.
Negotiations with Habib Rafiq Group focused on the development of agro-industrial cooperation, organic farming, processing of fruits, vegetables, and meat, as well as joint investment projects.
Discussions with Sindhu United Links Exports (Pvt.) Ltd. addressed the processing and packaging of potatoes, mandarins, and 1121 Sella rice for export to the markets of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, including phytosanitary approvals and logistics arrangements.
In talks with Fauji Meat Ltd., the parties discussed meat production and processing, exports in compliance with sanitary standards, and the supply of chilled meat to Uzbekistan.
With OFood, discussions centered on the import of mangoes and mandarins, organization of logistics, and determination of supply volumes.
Following the meetings, participants confirmed their readiness to expand practical cooperation in agriculture and food products, relying on private sector initiatives and implementing sustainable models of engagement between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
