Uzbekistan and Latvia establish a bilateral Working Group on cooperation in the field of transport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A regular meeting of the Uzbek-Latvian Mixed Commission on International Road Transport was held, the Dunyo news agency reported.

The delegation of Uzbekistan was headed by the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Davron Dehkanov, the Latvian - by the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia Uldis Reimanis.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Riga, the meeting discussed the practical aspects of cooperation between the specialized structures of Uzbekistan and Latvia in the field of transport, logistics and transit.

The parties confirmed their interest in expanding cooperation in this important area, emphasizing the enormous potential for further building up mutually beneficial ties and the accumulated practical experience of uninterrupted cargo transportation, despite the difficult situation in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The result of the event, which took place in a traditionally constructive atmosphere, was the achievement of an agreement on raising partnership in this area to a new level by creating an Uzbek-Latvian Working Group on cooperation in the field of transport, designed to become a comprehensive platform for the prompt discussion of cooperation in the field of international road transport, aviation and rail links.

The previous meeting took place in Tashkent in October 2019.

The Mixed Commission on International Road Transport was established in accordance with the provisions of the intergovernmental Agreement on International Road Transport from 23 May 1996.
