Uzbekistan and France Discuss Interparliamentary Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with a delegation from the Senate of the French Republic led by Senator Valérie Boyer. The delegation arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the landmark First "Uzbekistan–France" Interparliamentary Forum.

During the negotiations, it was noted that thanks to a constructive dialogue at the highest level, Uzbek-French relations are developing dynamically and have been elevated to the level of a strategic partnership. It was emphasized that France remains a reliable and long-term partner for Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed the results of cooperation across the trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and educational sectors. They also reviewed prospects for implementing joint projects in several key industries, including:

  • Agriculture and water management
  • Energy and industrial manufacturing
  • Food security
  • Transport and logistics

Particular attention was paid to the further development of interparliamentary interaction as a vital element for strengthening bilateral dialogue. The participants underscored the need to intensify contacts between specialized committees, expand interregional ties, and increase the efficiency of interparliamentary cooperation groups.

The significance of holding the First "Uzbekistan–France" Interparliamentary Forum was highlighted as an effective mechanism for deepening the partnership and developing coordinated approaches to pressing issues on the bilateral and interregional agenda.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to further strengthen interparliamentary dialogue and expand practical cooperation across all discussed areas.
