Uzbekistan and B2Gold discuss implementation of joint projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 January 2019, at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington, talks were held between the Ambassador of our country to the United States and Canada Javlon Vakhabov with Vice President of the Canadian company B2Gold Neil Reader.

B2Gold is a leading gold mining company in Canada, following the results of 2018, the production volume reached 1 million ounces.

During the conversation, practical issues on implementation of large B2Gold investment projects in Uzbekistan were discussed, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

Neil Reader, who previously held the posts of Ambassador of Canada in several Latin American countries and the Philippines, said that the company attaches strategic importance to establishing mutually beneficial and fruitful cooperation with Uzbekistan. To implement its initiatives, B2Gold intends to attract the most advanced technologies from Canada - a country that is among the top five world leaders in the extraction of mineral resources.

The Vice-President of B2Gold noted about plans to take part in a trade mission to Uzbekistan as part of a delegation of leading Canadian companies in May 2019. This visit is organized by the Embassy jointly by the Canadian Business Association in Russia and Eurasia, which unites about 200 companies and enterprises.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, issues of deepening cooperation with leading Canadian companies in this sector are also planned to be discussed within the framework of the upcoming participation of Uzbekistan’s delegation in the annual meeting of the Canadian Association of Miners and Explorers (PDAC), which will be held in Toronto on 3-6 March.
