Uzbekistan adopts regulation on licensing pharmaceutical activity
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan approved a regulation on order of licensing pharmaceutical activity in the country on 13 May 2010.

The regulation was developed and adopted in order to implement resolution of the President of Uzbekistan “On measures on ordering licensing of pharmaceutical and medical activity” from 7 April 2010.

As earlier reported, now legal entities and individuals can receive license to carry out pharmaceutical activity in Uzbekistan for five years. Earlier, there was no limit for license term. The regulation reflected this change.

The regulation determines order of licensing of pharmaceutical activity. The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan licenses pharmaceutical activity in the country.

In line with the document, the license issued to legal entities and individuals for five years. The license term can be less than five years only at the request of the applicant.

Pharmaceutical activity, which should be licensed in line with the regulation, includes following activities:

a) production of medicaments and products of medical purpose;
b) preparation of medicaments and products of medical purpose;
c) scientific-research work on creating medicaments and products of medical purpose;
d) quality control over medicaments and products of medical purpose;
e) retail trade of medicaments and products of medical purpose;
f) wholesale trade of medicaments and products of medical purpose;
g) planting, collection, preparation, packaging and wholesale realization of raw materials of plant, animal and mineral origin.

According to the document, only legal entities can receive license to pharmaceutical activity indicated in points “a” and “f”. At the same time, pharmaceutical institution can receive license to conduct activity indicated in points “b” and “e”.
