Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Twenty public-sector officials from Uzbekistan successfully passed the second of three levels of the Certified Public-Private Partnership Professional (CP3P) program; a platform that helps PPP practitioners deliver better projects. This program was developed by the World Bank Group and other leading development finance institutions and is administered by APMG International, a London-based examination institute.

The implementation of this program is part of a joint initiative by IFC and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Finance PPP Development Agency (PPP DA). It is aimed at capacity-building in PPP-related activities for officials from the PPP DA and respective ministries. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IFC team in cooperation with APMG quickly restructured the program into a virtual format. This was the first time that such training and exam were conducted online. 

CP3P certification consists of three examinations: Foundation, Preparation, and Execution. The participants had already passed the Foundation exam in 2019. Candidates that will pass all three examinations are entitled to use the Certified Public-Private Partnerships Professional (CP3P) credentials worldwide.

 “Our experience shows that institutional capacity to prepare, procure, and manage PPPs is essential. We are pleased to support this global certification program, which provides Uzbek practitioners the opportunity to access specialized knowledge and obtain a globally-recognized certification,” said Zafar Khashimov, IFC’s Senior Country Officer. “We are also proud of IFC’s specialists who found the ways not to interrupt the program in this difficult time for the whole world and provided the opportunity for Uzbekistan participants to complete the program within the defined timeframe.”

In the next step, IFC will help bring the third and final Execution-level training and exam for the twenty officials that passed the Preparation exam.
