Uzbek President receives Deputy Prime Minister of Japan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received a Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Japan Taro Aso on 5 May 2014. The meeting was held at Oqsaroy presidential residence in Tashkent, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.

Uzbek leader said that in Uzbekistan Taro Aso is known not only as a credible political and public figure in Japan, but also as a trusted friend, who made a great contribution to the development of mutually beneficial relations and establishment of a strategic partnership between the two countries.

President congratulated Taro Aso with awarding him of the Honorary Doctorate of Banking and Finance Academy of Uzbekistan during his visit to the country.

During the negotiations Islam Karimov and Taro Aso considered issues of further developing cooperation in energy sector, mining, oil and gas, chemical and electrical industries, automotive, telecommunications. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues.

Taro Aso expressed his frank gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov for warm reception and affirmed readiness of the Government of Japan to further strengthening multifaceted economic cooperation with Uzbekistan.

It is worth to mention that Japan is one key economic partners of Uzbekistan. Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Japan exceeded US$215.2 million in 2013. Total volume of financial resources, issued by Japan to Uzbekistan, made up US$2.32 billion.
