Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 August 2020, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov met with a Turkish delegation led by the Chairman of the Planning and Budgetary Commission of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey Lutfi Elvan and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cengiz Holding Mehmet Cengiz.
The talks were organized within the framework of the official visit of the Turkish delegation to Uzbekistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, the parties noted the high level of bilateral relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Turkey, which are based on the friendship of the peoples of the two countries. Alisher Sultanov also congratulated the head of the Turkish delegation on an important event - the discovery of a large natural gas field in Turkey’s own shelf on the Black Sea - Tuna-1. The forecasted volumes of the field are estimated at 320 billion cubic meters.
Members of the Turkish delegation, in turn, noted the effectiveness of the reforms that are being carried out under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan in various socio-economic spheres of the country, including the fuel and energy complex.
During the meeting, the further development of the joint Uzbek-Turkish project for the construction of a thermal power plant in Uzbekistan was discussed. L. Elvan noted the interest of the Turkish side in the soonest signing of the relevant agreements within the framework of the project.
The Uzbek side expressed its readiness to provide all the necessary support in order to implement already planned projects and discuss new mutually beneficial proposals.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to organize visits to the proposed sites for the construction of the TPP and, following the results of the visits, make the necessary calculations within the framework of the project.
