Uzbek DPM holds talks with the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 April 2021, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to the Republic of Uzbekistan Hisham bin Mishal al-Suwaylim.

During the talks, the sides discussed the current agenda of Uzbek-Saudi cooperation, the implementation of previously reached agreements, as well as preparations for upcoming high-level bilateral events.

The Saudi side gave a high assessment to the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the positive results and changes achieved in recent years in all spheres of socio-political and socio-economic life.

The head of the foreign diplomatic mission also praised the efforts of the Government of Uzbekistan to further strengthen and expand bilateral partnership. According to him, thanks to the active efforts of the Uzbek side, cooperation between the two countries has acquired high dynamics.

Noting the scale and significance of the agreements reached following the visit of the Saudi delegation to Uzbekistan in January 2021, headed by the Minister of Investments Khalid al-Falih, the Ambassador stressed the commitment of the Saudi side to their consistent implementation.

During the meeting, they also exchanged views on the prospects for further intensification of bilateral relations, including by organizing in the near future a visit of the government delegation of Uzbekistan to Saudi Arabia, holding another round of consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, as well as meetings of the Uzbek-Saudi Business Council and the Uzbek -Saudi Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economics, Science and Technology, Culture, Sports and Youth.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue regular contacts in order to ensure the timely and effective implementation of bilateral agreements, joint projects and initiatives.
