Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 11 February 2020, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Nematov met with the Head of the Representative Office of the German Economy in Central Asia Hovsep Voskanyan.
The sides discussed promising areas of trade, economic and investment cooperation, the organization of joint events, including a trip of representatives of German business circles to Uzbekistan, as well as the opening of the Representative Office of the German Economy in Tashkent.
The parties welcomed the growth in bilateral trade last year, which in 2019 reached US$980 million, which is 26% higher than the previous year, and confirmed their readiness to increase cooperation in this area in the spirit of the high-level agreements reached in 2019 during the Uzbek-German summits in Berlin and Tashkent.
At the meeting, it was noted that about 40 German companies and banks had representative offices in Uzbekistan, more than 200 joint ventures were created, including 61 with one hundred percent German capital.
The parties paid special attention to the participation of representatives of German business circles in the upcoming Tashkent Investment Forum on 5-6 March, which is intended to become the largest platform for meetings of international business interested in the Uzbek market.
