Uzbek Deputy PM holds talks with the Chairman of the Supreme Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 November 2020, negotiations were held between the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov with the Chairman of the Supreme Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah.

During the conversation, the current state and prospects of cooperation in the political, investment, trade and economic, transport, logistics and cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as issues of interaction in a regional context were discussed.

The sides noted the importance of ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan as a key factor for sustainable development and economic cooperation in the region.

An exchange of views took place on strengthening mutual ties between Central and South Asia, implementing joint projects to improve transport and energy infrastructure, including by accelerating the implementation of projects for the development of the Trans-Afghan transport corridor and the construction of the Surkhan-Puli-Khumri power line.

The parties also discussed the issues of deepening industrial cooperation and business partnership among entrepreneurs of the two countries, meaning the organization of joint ventures with the subsequent organization of the export of products to the markets of third countries.

The Afghan side highly appreciated the level of cooperation with Uzbekistan in the educational sphere, in particular, in the field of training Afghan citizens in the universities of Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, further steps were agreed within the framework of bilateral cooperation, aimed at accelerating the socio-economic development of both countries, enhancing close interaction to promote joint projects of regional importance.
