Uzbek Aviation Passengers Soar 6.5 Times Over 25 Years

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Air passenger traffic in Uzbekistan reached approximately 9.7 million in 2025, nearly 6.5 times higher than in 2000, when 1.5 million passengers flew domestically and internationally, according to the National Statistics Committee.

Passenger growth over the past 25 years has been uneven. Between 2000 and 2009, annual passenger numbers fluctuated between 0.8 million and 1.5 million, followed by a steady rise from 2010, reaching 3.2 million in 2019.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 caused a sharp decline in passenger numbers to 0.9 million. However, the aviation sector has since experienced rapid recovery, with passenger traffic increasing to 3.0 million in 2021, 4.1 million in 2022, 5.3 million in 2023, and 6.8 million in 2024.

This steady growth underscores Uzbekistan’s expanding air transport infrastructure and the rising demand for domestic and international air travel.
