Uzbek Ambassador Presents Credentials to the Governor-General of Australia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 November, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador with residence in Singapore, Alisher Kayumov, presented his credentials to the Governor-General of Australia, Samantha Mostyn, the Dunyo news agency reported.

During the conversation that followed the official ceremony, the parties discussed the current state and future prospects of Uzbekistan–Australia relations.

Particular attention was given to the development of political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, scientific and educational ties, and other areas of partnership.

Samantha Mostyn highly praised the large-scale reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, noting the progress achieved in modernizing public administration, developing civil society, and creating a favorable investment climate for international businesses.

The meeting also highlighted the shared economic interests of the two countries, including the importance of the cotton and mining industries, which opens new opportunities for cooperation in innovation and investment.

The Governor-General also welcomed the recent UNESCO General Conference session held in Samarkand and emphasized Uzbekistan’s growing attractiveness as a tourist destination for Australian citizens.

At the end of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations. Samantha Mostyn conveyed her sincere wishes to the leadership and people of Uzbekistan.

As a reminder, Alisher Kayumov arrived in Singapore in March 2024, replacing Kahramon Shakirov, who previously served as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Singapore (2018–2024) and concurrently to Australia (2022–2024). On 30 April 2024, Kayumov presented his credentials to President of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
