US President congratulates Islam Karimov with victory in elections

Obama said at the time, when Islam Karimov starts his next term at the post of the President, he wishes peace and prosperity to the President-elect and people of Uzbekistan.

The United States and Uzbekistan share many common interests, which contributed to the strong and ever-evolving relationship between two states. “We also face many common threats. Working together, our bilateral relationship can continue to grow, and our partnership can increase for benefit of both our peoples,” the congratulation message reads.

US President said that it is impossible to achieve stability and security in the world, where many threats, without democratic and responsible governance, including respect main rights and freedoms.

“I look forward to working with you on these important issues during your new term. On behalf of the American people, I send warm greetings to the people of Uzbekistan and express good wishes for peace and prosperity for your country,” the statement noted.
