US EXIM Bank to Finance Uzbekistan’s Projects in Key Sectors

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 6 November, as part of his working visit to Washington, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with John Jovanovic, President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM Bank).

EXIM Bank serves as the official export credit agency of the U.S. government, supporting the international business activities of American companies by providing insurance, guarantees, and credit instruments for export financing.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation with EXIM Bank to finance major projects in key sectors of Uzbekistan’s economy, including energy, critical minerals mining and processing, transportation, agriculture, IT, and other priority areas. A joint cooperation program developed by both sides will serve as the foundation for these efforts.

Special attention was given to EXIM Bank’s potential participation in modernizing Uzbekistan’s national airline fleet through the supply of Boeing aircraft. The meeting resulted in an agreement to continue practical cooperation and to develop a Long-Term Partnership Plan.

In the presence of President Mirziyoyev, an Agreement on Financing Joint Projects was exchanged between the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Export-Import Bank of the United States.
