Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Unemployment rate in Uzbekistan made up 11.1% in January-September, having decreased by 2.1 percentage points compared to the first half of this year.
In September 2020, the Republican Scientific Center for Employment and Labor Protection of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations conducted a regular sociological survey in 108 cities and regions of the country. The study covered 490 self-government bodies, 4.9 thousand households, 26 thousand citizens.
In January-September 2020, the number of labor resources reached 19.12 million people, exceeding the figure for the same period of 2019 by 0.7%, or 135,500 people.
The number of people employed in the sectors of the economy made up 13.2 million people, which compared to the first half of this year increased by 3.7% (468,500 people).
The number of the population employed in the official sector in January-September 2020 made up 5.67 million people, an increase compared to the period in January-June of this year by 1.7%, or 92,600 people.
The number of people employed in the informal sector made up 5.62 million people, an increase compared to the same indicator for the period from January to June 2020 by 9.9%, or 504,200 people. This happened due to the return to the domestic labor market of labor migrants who worked abroad and an increase in those employed in seasonal agricultural work.
The number of people who went abroad reached 1.91 million people, having decreased compared to the period for January-June 2020 by 128,300 people, or 6.3%.
According to the results of the study, the number of people in need of employment was 1.64 million people. The unemployment rate among the economically active population was 11.1%. This indicator among young people aged 16-30 was 17.1%, among women - 14.7%.
In January-September 2020, the number of economically inactive population in the country amounted to 4.27 million people, decreasing compared to the first half of this year. by 3%, or 130,300 people.
In January-September 2020, regional (city) Employment Assistance Centers provided services to 910,201 citizens who applied.
About 243,946 citizens, who applied were provided with work, 500 499 were involved in public works, 25,384 underwent training to receive the professions, 45,036 citizens were assigned unemployment benefits, 38,002 were provided with consultations on issues related to labor relations.
Also, due to subsidies allocated by the Fund for the Promotion of Employment in household plots, employment was provided for 30,827 families, 19,174 citizens were employed in agricultural, sewing and artisan cooperatives, 7,383 were attracted to entrepreneurship.
