UNDP Annual Report: Thousands of Women and Youth in Uzbekistan Gain Skills for the Digital Economy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) released its 2025 annual report, summarizing large-scale initiatives in digitalization, climate resilience, and social inclusion in Uzbekistan.

The report reflects strategic partnerships with the Uzbek government and international donors, laying the groundwork for a new 2026–2030 program cycle.

A major achievement in 2025 was progress in digital services: 12.8 million citizens gained access to government services online, signaling accelerated transformation toward a transparent, citizen-oriented digital state.

In the national “Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy,” Uzbekistan strengthened its environmental leadership. Implementation of reporting systems for the first sovereign “green” bonds created transparent mechanisms to monitor environmental impacts, boosting the investment appeal of sustainable projects. On a regional level, early warning systems reached 6.5 million people, reducing vulnerability to climate risks.

UNDP emphasized inclusive growth, with professional training programs benefiting nearly 2,000 participants—70% women and 22% youth—equipping them with skills in entrepreneurship and digital adaptation for sustainable employment. Basic infrastructure improvements included safe drinking water access for over 2,700 residents in remote areas, including the Aral region.

In 2025, UNDP signed 14 new financing agreements, expanding partnerships to 25 civil society organizations. Key donors included the European Union, Japan, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, the Green Climate Fund, and the Islamic Development Bank.

“Together with the government and our partners, we are moving from policy to people, delivering tangible results that strengthen resilience and accelerate the green transition,” said Akiko Fuji, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan. The organization stressed that 2025’s achievements provide a foundation for scaling sustainable development programs nationwide over the next five years.
