Ulukbek Maripov: Together we will be able to achieve the volume of mutual trade of US$2 billion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulukbek Maripov, as part of a working trip to the Republic of Uzbekistan, met in Tashkent with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov in a narrow format.

During the negotiations, the whole range of topical issues of bilateral cooperation was discussed, as well as further prospects for interaction in the areas of trade facilitation and the implementation of joint investment projects.

“It is gratifying to note that the state visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov to the Republic of Uzbekistan was successfully carried out. I am convinced that the agreements reached by the Heads of the two states will become an impetus for resolving bilateral issues that have remained unresolved over the past years. For the Kyrgyz Republic, the development of good-neighborly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan in all spheres is a priority area of foreign policy. Following the results of the last meeting, the heads of our states set before us the task of achieving in the coming years the volume of mutual trade turnover up to 2 billion US dollars. Taking into account the existing potential for the further development of trade and economic cooperation, I am convinced that by joint efforts we will be able to achieve this indicator in the coming years,” said Ulukbek Maripov.

The Prime Minister stressed that the past 2020 was not an easy year for all countries, the coronavirus infection pandemic has made its own adjustments to the plans of many countries. However, despite certain difficulties, thanks to the efforts of the Governments of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan, the volume of trade between the countries did not decrease, but increased by 10% compared to last year.

“For its part, the Kyrgyz side intends to further build up trade and economic cooperation in all spheres and industries with the maximum use of the advantages of the economies of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan,” Ulukbek Maripov said.

During the meeting, the Heads of Government of the two countries agreed on the practical implementation of the agreements previously reached by the Presidents of the two countries.

In addition, the parties reached positive agreements in terms of railway transit cargo transportation, on the supply of the Uzbek side to the Kyrgyz Republic of high-yielding wheat and cotton seeds on a preferential basis. At the same time, the Uzbek side expressed its readiness in the near future to provide 10 thousand seedlings of fruit and berry crops on a gratuitous basis, there is an agreement on the uninterrupted supply of mineral fertilizers to the Kyrgyz Republic.
