Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Tashkent region, together with the Turkish company Aksa Enerji, investment projects are being implemented for the construction and operation of two thermal power plants with a total capacity of 470 MW.
Thermal power plants, which will use combined-cycle plants (CCGT) and gas piston plants (GPU), are being built on 7 hectares of land in Kibray district to the west of the operating Tashkent TPP.
The total cost of projects is US$300 million, fully funded by foreign direct investment. The stations, which are planned to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of this year, will generate 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
The use of energy efficient installations will save up to 550 million cubic meters of natural gas per year.
As part of the implementation of the projects, an Investment Agreement was signed between Aksa Enerji and the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, as well as an agreement on the purchase of electricity - with JSC National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan.
These projects were approved by the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to organize the construction of a thermal power plant with a capacity of 240 MW in the Tashkent region" (dated August 13, 2020 No. PP-4807) and a number of other documents, as well as by the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on August 13, 2020 No. PP -4807 "On measures to organize the construction of a thermal power plant with a capacity of 240 MW in the Tashkent region" and March 4, 2020 No. 5018 "On measures to implement investment projects" Construction of a combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 240 MW and a gas piston power plant with a capacity of 230 MW in the Tashkent region "and" construction of a 270 MW gas piston power plant in the Bukhara region ”.
At the same time, it should be noted that Aksa Enerji has launched a project for the construction and operation of a thermal power plant in the Bukhara region, where technology based on gas piston units will also be used. Within the framework of this project, land surveys are being carried out to start the construction of a new thermal power plant with a capacity of 270 MW.
Currently, the construction of these TPPs has begun, during which about 900 workers will be involved. With the commissioning of the stations, 220 new jobs will be created.
