Turkish Pharmaceutical Companies Explore Prospects for Localized Production in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the UzPharm Agency, Uzbekistan’s Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, held a series of meetings in Türkiye with representatives of leading institutional and private sector organizations, according to Dunyо news agency.
During the visit, the delegation met with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), as well as with management and industry specialists from major Turkish pharmaceutical companies, including Abdi İbrahim İlaç, Atabay Kimya, Humanis Sağlık, and Koçak Farma İlaç ve Kimya.
The Uzbek side presented its comprehensive reform program aimed at accelerating the development of the pharmaceutical sector in Uzbekistan. Discussions focused on creating a favorable investment climate for foreign investors, systematically improving the regulatory framework, ensuring transparency in drug and medical device registration and certification procedures, and aligning sector standards with international norms.
Special attention was given to the high growth rate of Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical market, the steadily increasing demand for medicines, government programs supporting local production, and the development of pharmaceutical clusters.
Turkish partners were also informed about tax and customs incentives in free economic zones, opportunities for joint ventures, localization of production, technology transfer, and collaboration in research and development.
Representatives of Turkish pharmaceutical companies expressed interest in entering the Uzbek market, implementing localization projects, and cooperating in innovative technologies. UzPharm Agency specialists addressed all questions and presented concrete mechanisms for collaboration, along with practical examples of project implementation.
The negotiations highlighted the deepening of Uzbek-Turkish cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector, the expansion of mutual investments, development of production partnerships, and strengthening of export potential. Turkish companies confirmed their strong interest in establishing long-term strategic partnerships with Uzbekistan.
