Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs establishes additional requirements for international transport in Turkey

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ankara, the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the establishment of additional requirements for international cargo transportation through the country, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

According to the notification, the indicated changes in the rules of international freight transportation concern the entry / exit and stay of foreign drivers and freight vehicles in Turkey, including those moving in transit through this country. In particular,

Transit carriers are required to check the driver’s health, disinfect the vehicle, arrange for a sufficient number of medical masks, sanitary protective equipment and food, as well as present a confirmation (permit) to enter the country of destination, etc.

Drivers entering Turkey must undergo a medical examination, disinfect the vehicle, (constantly) wear a mask in places of possible contact with other people and service points for motor vehicles, have a sufficient number of medical masks, sanitary protective equipment and food products, ensure procedures proper transportation in an isolated area, including the replacement of a driver, trailer, cargo (freight), and if they are not possible, entry is allowed only after 14- day quarantine period.

The maximum length of stay and the route of cargo carriers are determined by the customs authorities of Turkey.

Carriers of medicines, medical products and essential foodstuffs may be allowed into Turkey without waiting for the end of the quarantine period for a period of 14 days, subject to the proper transportation procedures, and where it is impossible to comply with them, after the necessary medical examination and protective measures.

When foreign drivers leave Turkey, they will verify compliance with the rules established by this notice. For drivers who violate the rules of stay, penalties will be applied and denied re-entry into the country.

Only cargo vehicles (Ro-Ro Travels) are permitted on board. In the case when the driver is allowed due to the mandatory conditions of carriage, which are considered acceptable by the administration of the local ports, carriers will be notified of the mandatory compliance with the established rules. Vehicles must be disinfected before being handed over to the driver.

In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan recommends that citizens planning to carry out international freight transportation through the territory of Turkey take this decision of the Turkish side into account.
