Ticket Counters at 14 Tashkent Metro Stations to Close from 9 December
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from 9 December, ticket counters at all 14 stations of the above-ground circle line of the Tashkent Metro will be closed, the metro press service announced.
The decision aims to increase transparency in the payment system and encourage the use of electronic payment methods.
Specifically, counters at the “Pakhtakor” and “Alisher Navoi” stations, where cash payments remain low, will be replaced with modern info-kiosks—automated machines issuing QR-coded tickets.
According to officials, the introduction of info-kiosks will reduce cash circulation, improve payment transparency and security, speed up ticket purchases, shorten queues, and give passengers the flexibility to use tickets either via a mobile app or as printed receipts.
