Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 9 September 2020, the XVIII meeting of the Council of Heads of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the CIS member states was held in the format of video conference at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by Chairman of the Executive Committee, Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergey Lebedev, Chairman of the Council of Heads of Chambers of the CIS Member States, Chairman of the CCI of the Republic of Uzbekistan Adkham Ikramov.
At the beginning of the Meeting, welcoming speeches were made by the Chairman of the Executive Committee, Executive Secretary of the CIS Lebedev Sergey Lebedev, as well as Chairman of the Council of Heads of Chambers of the CIS Member States, Chairman of the CCI of the Republic of Uzbekistan Adkham Ikramov.
Chairman of the Executive Committee, Executive Secretary of the CIS S. Lebedev noted the importance of the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev to hold a "Week of Business Initiatives" in the country and events under his auspices aimed at strengthening and increasing the economic activity of the Commonwealth countries.
He also emphasized the high level of the 18th meeting of the Council of Heads of the CCI of the CIS countries, which was attended by the Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of the CIS countries.
During his speech, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan A. Ikramov noted that thanks to the efforts of the chambers of commerce and industry during its years of activity, the Council recommended itself as a coordinating mechanism for business interaction and establishing a direct dialogue at the level of heads of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry. This, first of all, contributed to the organization of a platform for discussing issues related to the creation of favorable conditions for business.
During the event, the reports of the participants in the meeting of the Council of the Heads of the Chambers of the CIS Member States were heard, as well as issues of the development of trade, economic and interregional cooperation between the business circles of the Commonwealth countries, the preparation of proposals to minimize the negative consequences caused by the COVID-19 pandemic for the economies of states -participants of the CIS, as well as organizing the activities of the Council for 2021, identifying promising areas of bilateral cooperation.
Also, in his speech, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin noted that despite the current situation caused by the ongoing pandemic, the Council’s activities will continue at a high level, as evidenced by the holding of today’s event. He stressed that the development of cooperation between the CCIs of the CIS countries at the regional level will provide an opportunity to improve indicators in the trade and economic sphere.
The Council of Heads of Chambers of the CIS Member States expressed confidence in the need to develop joint work to strengthen the role of the Chamber in the development of trade, economic and interregional cooperation between business circles of the Commonwealth countries.
During the discussions, decisions were made to promote the creation of a favorable regulatory framework in the CIS countries for cooperation between business circles of the Commonwealth countries, as well as to promote the development of interregional and cross-border relations in the Commonwealth space for stable and sustainable economic growth in the regions and border areas of the CIS member states.
Within the framework of the event, assistance was approved in the interaction of business circles of the CIS member states in the field of identifying and implementing multilateral investment projects and high-tech solutions, as well as holding exhibition and fair events planned in 2021.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the date and place of the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Chambers of the CIS Member States.
As a result of the event, a decision was signed at the XVIII meeting of the Council of Heads of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the CIS member states, where the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Chambers of the CIS member states is planned to be held in 2021 in Dushanbe.
The Council of the Heads of the CCIs of the CIS Member States was formed by the decision of the heads of the chambers of commerce and industry of Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, adopted at the organizational meeting in Moscow on November 26-27, 2002.
The main goal of the Council is to promote the development of inter-chambers cooperation, enhance the role of the chambers of commerce and industry of the CIS countries in matters of joint innovation development, support and development of small and medium-sized businesses, intensify exhibition and fair activities, form a single information space, expand interregional and cross-border cooperation, and develop mechanisms of public-private partnership, training of personnel for business, etc. On most of the specified areas of interaction, the Council has signed multilateral agreements.
