Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Representatives of official and expert circles of the United States, as well as a community of compatriots living in the United States of America, expressed words of sympathy and support for victims of natural disasters in the Bukhara and Syrdarya regions, Dunyo reports.
So, Alice Wells, First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, wrote on her Twitter page:
“Our hearts today are with the inhabitants of Syrdarya and Turkestan. We are close to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and will restore together.”
In his interview, the words of sympathy were also expressed by the president of one of the leading US analytical centers - the International Association for Strategic Studies Gregory Buy:
“I am pleased to see how Uzbekistan is effectively fighting the coronavirus and the consequences of the pandemic that has swept the whole world, including Central Asia.”
Unfortunately, recently the country also had to deal with large-scale natural disasters - a hurricane in Bukhara and a flood in Syrdarya regions.
Now the whole world is witnessing how the leadership of Uzbekistan from the first days of the tragedy has taken timely effective measures to eliminate the consequences of natural disasters, to provide all-round assistance to the affected population of these regions.
It should be noted that despite the difficulties encountered, Uzbekistan at the same time continues to fight with a new type of coronavirus, and this shows the resilience of the Uzbek people, being an example for the Central Asian region.
We are sure that Uzbekistan will quickly cope with the consequences of natural phenomena. While in Washington, we pray for the well-being of the affected people and wish them a speedy return to their homes.
In his video address, the president of the Turkestanian-American Association, Abdullah Kwaja, noted the following:
- We received with particular concern and sadness the alarming messages about the dam breaking into the reservoir in Syrdarya. In this regard, we express our regrets to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the entire Uzbek people. We are glad that this natural disaster did not result in human casualties and the Uzbek leadership took immediate measures to evacuate local residents and provide them with the necessary assistance.
We are confident that our people, which have gone through many trials in their long history, will boldly overcome these difficulties in solidarity and solidarity.
On these blessed days of the month of Ramadan, we will pray for the speedy overcoming by our people of the consequences of these disasters.
