The unused economic and industrial potential of Namangan region is being studied

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 February, a working group led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and consisting of heads of ministries, departments, industry associations and local authorities began work on identifying additional reserves to increase industrial and the economic potential of the Namangan region and the formation of a regional investment program.

The most effective tool for an objective assessment of the current situation is direct communication with entrepreneurs, in connection with which members of the working group conduct field visits to all districts of the region, talk with manufacturers and work together to resolve existing problematic issues. The general goals are to ensure the uninterrupted operation of industrial facilities, as well as to create conditions and implement specific measures to increase production and export volumes, using the existing "points of growth" on the scale of the region, districts and cities, as well as each individual makhalla.

During the visits, a discussion was held on new promising investment projects presented by the heads of ministries, departments, industry associations and commercial banks, for the implementation of which there are all the necessary conditions and prerequisites in Namangan region. When analyzing and studying the economic efficiency of these projects, the key targets are the creation of value chains with an increase in export volumes, as well as the number of new jobs created. The industrial specialization of the created industries was also taken into account - the members of the group carefully studied the structure of imports in the region and highlighted certain goods that are most in demand both by local producers and end consumers. Establishing the production of these products will significantly reduce dependence on imports, and will also contribute to the formation of complete value chains, which will generally strengthen cooperation ties between local producers.

The discussion was also attended by local entrepreneurs and initiators of investment projects, who voiced a number of constructive proposals to stimulate entrepreneurship in the region and improve conditions for organizing and conducting industrial production. Some of them, after getting acquainted with the presented promising investment projects, expressed their readiness for their further study and implementation.

Also, special attention is paid by the members of the working group to the development of export potential and stimulation of export activities in the region. In particular, at one of the production facilities, a meeting was held with local exporting entrepreneurs, during which, through an open dialogue, representatives of the private sector were able to voice the problems of a single and systemic nature that they encountered during the production and sale of products abroad. The issues raised were promptly worked out directly during the meeting - the responsible heads of ministries, departments, commercial banks and local authorities received targeted instructions to solve the problems raised, as well as to further provide effective support to exporting entrepreneurs.

A separate direction is targeted work with the leaders of makhallas, aimed at stimulating socio-economic development and ensuring employment of the population through its wide involvement in home work within the framework of the initiative “makhalla chairman - reformer”. Effective measures are being taken to establish a system of close interaction of makhallas with relevant ministries, departments, commercial banks and local authorities, which is designed to ensure the prompt identification and solution of existing problems of the population related to the need for employment, as well as communal and social services.

The working group will continue to work in the region over the next week. As a result, the regional investment program of the Namangan region for 2021-2022 will be formed.
