Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Senate approved the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Defense" in the new edition.

The purpose of this Law is to regulate relations in the field of defense.

The main objectives of this Law are to establish the legal framework for the organization of defense and command and control of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, to determine the powers of state bodies, as well as the participation of self-government bodies of citizens, organizations and citizens in ensuring the country's defense.

In the approved Law, defense is understood as a system of measures of a political, economic, military, socio-legal, informational, organizational and other nature to ensure the protection of the sovereignty, territorial integrity of the Republic of Uzbekistan, peaceful life and security of its population.

The main goals of state defense policy are to protect the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order, ensure the state’s military security, strengthen international and regional cooperation, security, stability and good neighborliness in Central Asia, constantly develop the state’s military organization and keep it ready for armed defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The law also defines the main tasks of the Armed Forces, issues of the use of the Armed Forces and military-economic support of defense.

The approved Law will enter into force after its signing by the President and publication in the prescribed manner.
