The President signs law “On international treaties of the Republic of Uzbekistan”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law on “On international treaties of the Republic of Uzbekistan” on 6 February 2019.

The law was adopted by the Legislative Chamber on 22 November 2018 and approved by the Senate on 13 December 2018.

The law is aimed at regulating relations in the field of the conclusion, execution, suspension and termination of international treaties of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The law establishes the status of an international treaty in the legislation of Uzbekistan, the conceptual apparatus, the terms and language in this area are brought into line with generally accepted international legal acts, and the procedure for concluding international treaties is clearly regulated.

The law determines the means of expressing the consent of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the obligation of an international treaty: signing an international treaty, exchanging notes, letters or other documents forming an international document, ratifying, approving, accepting an international treaty, acceding to an international treaty.

The law establishes mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of international treaties, which provides for the creation of a unified electronic database using modern ICTs, sending state bodies annually until 31 December to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the implementation of international treaties, assessing the effectiveness of the implementation of international treaties, and preparing proposals for proper enforcement of their implementation.
