The Ministry of Energy and the Energy Charter Secretariat hold an online forum

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 November 2020, the Energy Charter Secretariat and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan held the 16th meeting of the Task Force on Regional Energy Cooperation in Central and South Asia online.

The Ministry of Energy has been hosting and co-organizing the annual meeting this year.

The forum brought together 30 participants representing national energy agencies and ministries, as well as companies involved in the production, transmission and distribution of electricity from five Central Asian states, Afghanistan, Mongolia and the CIS Energy Council.

The Energy Cooperation Task Force, established in 2007, meets annually or every two years, bringing together energy sector experts from the region to discuss electricity generation, imports and exports, and related transit, trade and regional cooperation issues.

This year’s meeting focused on its traditional objectives as well as new projects and initiatives in the energy sector. Participants received updates, reports and presentations covering the period since the last meeting in March 2019.

It was decided at the next meeting to focus on topics related to the legal and technical aspects of the growing implementation of renewable energy sources and their interaction with existing generating capacities, as well as to continue discussions on issues related to the transit of electricity in the context of further integration of energy systems across regional borders.
