The first power unit of Turakurgan TPP to be commissioned in 2019

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The first power unit of the Turakurgan thermal power plant will be commissioned in December 2019. This was reported by the UzA agency.

The second phase of the project will be introduced in March 2020. The cost of the project is US$1.195 billion.

The builders constructed roads an communication systems, two-story buildings, fire safety service, concrete plant with a production capacity of 120 cubic meters of products per hour, and a number of other auxiliary economic structures.

Based on the results of the tender for financing the construction of TPP based on the investment program, the consulting company for the project will be provided by the Japanese company TEPSKO. The Uzbek and Japanese sides considered an agreement for US$18.338 million.

In addition, the Japanese consortium Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems won the international tender as the main contractor. With this company an agreement was concluded for US$749.43 million.

Starting from 1 January 2017, an auxiliary contractor - engineering and technical specialists of the Turkish company Calik Enerji is actively participating in construction and installation works.

Uzbekistan launched a project to build a Turakurgan TPP with a capacity of 900 MW in August 2015. The project envisages construction of a power plant with production of up to 7 billion kWh of electricity per year.

The project is funded by a loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) worth US$704 million, a loan from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan for US$300 million and own funds of Uzbekenergo.
