Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 May 2019, the Embassy of Uzbekistan to the United States took part in the annual tourist and cultural event of the “American capital Passport DC - Around the World Embassy Tour” - the Open Day of diplomatic missions accredited in Washington.
The main diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in the United States participated in this event for the second year in a row. Its main purpose is to present the Washington audience to the culture and traditions of various countries of the world, to popularize outbound tourism, and to demonstrate to the participants the tourist potential of their countries.
This year, more than 50 diplomatic missions accredited in Washington, attended by more than 30 thousand people living in the capital and neighboring states, as well as foreign guests, took part in the “Around the World Embassy Tour”. Uzbekistan is the only participant from the Central Asian region.
As a result of the significant intensification of work on promoting the Uzbekistan brand in the USA, familiarizing the American audience with history and culture, attracting a large number of tourists to our country, the Embassy became a favorite among the participants of the event. According to the organizers, our diplomatic mission, having gathered more than 14 thousand guests for 6 hours (over 10 thousand in 2018), is recognized as one of the most visited “Around the World Embassy Tour”.
As a rule, up to 90% of guests visiting a certain embassy plan to travel to this country for the purpose of tourism. In addition, participants of the action actively post photos about visiting diplomatic missions of foreign countries on social networks, which also serves as a tool for actively promoting tourism to these countries.
The US State Department calls Uzbekistan safe for tourism as a country that does not require special precautions. According to the Global Law and Order Report by Gallup (USA), Uzbekistan ranks 5th in security in the world with 95 points out of 100. The American Lonely Planet ranks Uzbekistan in second place in Asia. The New York Times Journeys chose Uzbekistan as one of 52 places for its annual visits. In 2019 four groups from the New York Times will visit Uzbekistan.
In general, in 2018, the growth of tourists in Uzbekistan from the American mainland grew by 60%. The United States is among the 70 countries whose citizens enter Uzbekistan by obtaining electronic visas.
